Virginia football loses track meet to N.C. State Where oh where did the defense go? That's what Wahoo fans have been wondering since the Cavaliers lost a 51-37 slugfest in Raleigh, North Carolina last Saturday. The Hoos and Wolfpack traded blows on almost every possession throughout the game and were knotted at 37 apiece with a little over two minutes to play. But Virginia was unable to move the ball on their last possession and had to punt the ball back to State. With time winding down in regulation, and N.C. State methodically moving the ball down the field, the Hoos could only hope to keep the Pack out of field goal range and force overtime. N.C. State's T.A. McLendon then ruined any hope of a Wahoo victory when he sprinted 38 yards for the deciding score with just 22 seconds remaining in the contest. The Wolkpack would add another touchdown with 8 seconds remaining off a 26-yard interception return. While the defense did not play well, the offense gave Wahoo fans something to cheer about. Quarterback Matt Schaub threw for 393 yards on 41 of 55 and four touchdowns. His only interception was when UVa was in desperation mode with just under 20 seconds remaining in the contest. The 393 yards sets a new UVa school record for most yards passed in a single game, surpassing Aaron Brooks' 390 passing yards against Virginia Tech in 1997. Tailback Alvin Pearman also had a career day as a receiver, snagging 13 passes for 87 yards. Wali Lundy, in only his second game back since his injury, helped Virginia by snagging 7 passes for 78 yards and 3 touchdowns. Receiver Marques Hagans caught 7 passes as well, and was key to Virginia tying the game at 37 late in the fourth quarter. The loss puts UVa at 5-4 on the season and 3-3 in the ACC with just two conference games remaining. If Florida State can defeat N.C. State this weekend, the Hoos are still in the driver's seat to tie for second in the conference, but they must beat Maryland and Georgia Tech over the next few weeks to finish 5-3 in the conference. For statistics and post game articles, please refer to the link below.
Virginia to travel to Terp Land this Thursday Virginia will have a tall order this Thursday night when they face Maryland in College Park. The Hoos embarrassed the Terrapins 48-13 in Scott Stadium last season. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:45 PM and will be televised by ESPN nationally. Click the link below to find out information regarding game news, weather, radio, stats, notes and depth chart. Keep in mind that the notes and depth chart may not be available until Monday afternoon (dependent on UVa media relations for this info).
UVa basketball Meet the Team Day The UVa men's and women's basketball programs participated in a Meet the Team event last Sunday. There was a women's basketball scrimmage, followed by an autograph session. Then the men took the floor to showcase their talents. The highlight players were junior Devin Smith and sophomore Derrick Byars, who seemed to be able to score at will. Fans enjoyed watching several new freshmen take the floor for the first time. Donte Minter, T.J. Bannister, Jason Cain, J.R. Reynolds and Gary Forbes all displayed excellent talent and should give fans a reason to be excited this season. For a wrap-up on the event, please see our Sabre Edge write-up linked below. Also, in the coming days, look for several photos from the event to be displayed in the Sabre Edge Photo Gallery.
UVa men's hoops brings on three new walk-on players Brad Abel (6-5 forward from Burke, VA), Billy Glading (6-2 guard from Bethesda, MD) and Hank Nacey (6-5 forward from Virginia Beach) have joined the UVa basketball team as walk-ons.
Fans may remember Billy Glading from this year's National Championship edition of the men's lacrosse team. Glading, a senior this past lacrosse season, was named the recipient of the Dr. Allen Voshell Award as the team's most valuable player. Glading was a third-team All-American and Most Valuable Player of the ACC Tournament.

Sabre Edge subscribers and Internet Explorer Some subscribers who use Microsoft's Internet Explorer have had periodic problems accessing Sabre Edge. The reasons for Internet Explorer's defects are not certain, and the problems seem to range through most of their browser versions, especially IE 5.0. We want you to know that there are other options for you. You do not have to stick with Microsoft IE. Many of the programmers and systems administrators around the planet simply do not use this browser (and they are reluctant to use most any of Microsoft's products), but unfortunately it seems to be the browser of choice since it comes automatically loaded on your computer at the time of purchase. We'd like to suggest a couple options for those who are simply fed up with the problems, glitches and other weird happenings with IE. With the two browsers listed below, no one has complained to us about access problems with Sabre Edge, unless they were work related (i.e. strong firewalls with additional security measures preventing the allowance of cookies on your system). If you are having access problems with Sabre Edge, try one of these capable browsers. I'd suggest Firebird above Netscape since the file is smaller and Netscape has been known to have other problems or glitches (but not with our site). Also, Mozilla's Firebird is very similar to Internet Explorer, but with far fewer problems.
Click the link below. On the left hand side of the page, look for Mozilla Firebird 0.7. Of the three bullet points, choose the appropriate operating system for your computer. If you don't know what you have, then you are probably using Windows. Once you click this link, you can save or open the file and start the download process.
