Recruiting News | ||||||||
This Week In Recruiting By Chris Horne Kecoughtan (Hampton, VA) LB Jerod Mayo indicated that he will definitely take official visits to Virginia and Virginia Tech, with the other visits unknown. NC State is a likely possibility for one of those visits. Tennessee may get one as well. UVA, VT, and NCSU have all offered. Virginia is still in the final two for Trimaine Goddard (Robersonville, NC), who appears as if he will wait until after his senior season to announce a decision. He is off to an impressive start for his final year, as he rushed for close to 200 yards and scored four TD's in a 58-0 victory in Roanoke's first game of the 2003 season. We project Goddard as a CB in college. Check out the profile on the newest FUMA post-grad football team member, LB Maurice Reevey. After only playing one season at Highland Springs in Richmond, VA, Reevey has the athletic ability and dedication to be a big-time force in prep football. Deep Creek (Chesapeake, VA) tailback Antwain Carey is making progress with his fractured foot. This week, he had his cast removed and will begin undergoing rehabilitation. Carey has been offered by Virginia Tech, Syracuse, and NC State. Virginia is actively recruiting him. Want to see UVA commit Cedric Peerman in action? All you have to do is check out the four video clips we posted on his player profile. The clips show Peerman's explosiveness and speed on offense, as well as a few nice defensive plays. Top target WR Doug Dutch (Washington, DC) will visit Virginia on the weekend on November 29. He has also scheduled a visit to Michigan, and looks to visit Florida and Miami as well. The Cavaliers have made his top four list of schools. Elizabeth (NJ) OL Carlos Feliciano, who is an intense and talented prospect, likes Virginia and Maryland as his top two. Check out the profile on Feliciano, who can play effectively on either side of the ball. Virginia is in the top five for JH Rose (NC) running back Andre Brown. Brown, who could play receiver in college as well as tailback, lists the Cavaliers along with Miami (FL), LSU, Nebraska, and NC State in his top five. He will officially visit Miami and Nebraska, but is unsure of his other trips. He has offers from all five favorites. Other news. Virginia lost out on Lutheran (Orange, CA) wide receiver/safety Anthony Vernaglia. Vernaglia chose Notre Dame over UVA, PSU, and USC.
