Andrew Pearman commits to the Hoos

The Roanoke Times is reporting Andrew Pearman has made a verbal commitment to the University of Virginia. He joins Chris Long and Cedric Peerman as the third verbal commitment of the 2004 recruiting class for the Hoos.

Pearman, a 5-9, 171-pound all-purpose back out of Providence High School in Charlotte, N.C., rushed for more than 1,600 yards as a junior and scored 31 touchdowns.

Pearman is the younger brother of current UVa tailback Alvin Pearman. Pearman has good moves and blazing speed (4.3 forty).

"Coaches really like his talent," said Providence Head Coach Bruce Hardin. "What I like is his work ethic and humbleness. He is a pleasure to be around. On the field, we just try to do anything to get the ball in his hands. He lines up at running back, wideout, wing back, a number of different places so defenses cannot key on him."

       News, Rumors and Fan Discussion

    This week ...

    Virginia Tech receives ACC invite

In an unbelievable turn of events, Virginia Tech has forced its way into receiving an invite to the ACC, while Syracuse and Boston College have been basically left hung out to dry. Miami is now holding off on accepting their ACC invite, but sources close to the situation claim that they'll still accept, it's just that the Big East lawsuit against the ACC is holding things back. Expect a decision by Miami by Monday afternoon.

If Miami accepts an invite after June 30th, they'll have to pay a hefty price to leave the Big East. Some sources are stating that the Big East may be changing their by-laws, which could cost Miami a lot more than $2 million to exit that conference. With all that has gone on, expect Miami to accept the ACC invitation on Monday, joining Virginia Tech as the 10th and 11th teams in the ACC.

Focus will then be on the possible 12th team to round out the conference expansion. Rumors have been floated of interested from Notre Dame or maybe South Carolina. South Carolina was once part of the ACC before jumping to the SEC. Notre Dame currently resides in the Big East in basketball and is independent for football, so it is feasible that they would want to join the ACC to enter an all-sports conference.
