This week in recruiting
By Chris Horne

The Cavaliers lost out on several prospects this week, when Moon (Coraopolis, PA) defensive tackle AQ Shipley and North Allegheny (Wexford, PA) linebacker/defensive end Chris Rogers verbally committed elsewhere. Shipley chose Penn State while Rogers selected Michigan. UVA was in the top four or five for Shipley.

Venice (FL) 6-4, 240 pound tight end/defensive end Brad Allen lists UVA as one of his favorite schools. He visited the Cavaliers several weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed his time. Allen, who boasts a 4.0 grade point average, wants to major in Pre-Med. Purdue, Vanderbilt, and Michigan join the Cavs as favorites right now, however Allen was careful to say he has not narrowed his list.

6-2, 216 pound linebacker Jerod Mayo of Kecoughtan High in Hampton (VA) is wide open at this point in the recruiting process. He received a verbal offer from Purdue earlier this week, and expects NC State to offer soon. UVA and VT are the only schools to officially offer the talented linebacker, who may attend camp in Charlottesville this weekend.

Plainfield (NJ) 6-3, 247 pound LB/DE Dan Davis will participate in UVA's camp from June 22-25. Davis, who played defensive tackle but projects as a defensive end in college, likes the Cavs, Georgia, Nebraska (offer), Rutgers (offer), Maryland, and Virginia Tech. His teammates, 6-3, 300 pound offensive lineman Rob Crudup and 6-1, 180 pound quarterback Philip Anderson, will also attend UVA's camp.

More ACC Expansion News

It seems as if the efforts of Virginia Tech and a couple of state politicians has caused the ACC to rethink their decision to expand to 12 teams with the addition of Boston College, Syracuse and Miami. Sources in the media are stating that Virginia Tech is now being considered as the 13th team to join the ACC. If nothing else, this will prevent the state politicians and the UVa Board of Visitors from forcing President Casteen to vote 'no' for expansion. By inviting VT, the ACC and UVa ensure that expansion will happen, whether the Hokies elect to join the conference or not. For more info on what's happening in the news, please refer to Sabre Newslink.

New Terms of Service with Netiquette

We've added a new Terms of Service page for our message boards. Most of the information is the same, but please read these over and make sure you are complying with the rules of the message boards when you post. We've also added a helpful 'Netiquette' listing to help those who are new to the message board posting process.

Terms of Service Alert now present on post a message page

Don't be too alarmed by our new terms of service warning located on the POST MESSAGE area of the message boards. This is there for those who aren't aware of the terms of service. We feel that a simple reminder will help people understand to think before they post. It will also help us to do a better job with the site instead of spending so much time cleaning up the boards.
