New financing opportunities at Keswick Club

With the recent introduction of new financing opportunities, this is the perfect time to explore membership in the area's finest golf and leisure club, Keswick Club. Located just east of Charlottesville, Keswick Club offers members and their guests unparalleled amenities, including an eighteen hole Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, clay and hard surface tennis courts, three spectacular swimming pools, dining in the Palmer room and terrace, as well as spa, fitness, and beauty facilities. And unlike other private clubs, accessibility to all the Club's amenities is their top priority.

Designed to complement your individual lifestyle, the Club's innovative financing is designed for both resident and nonresident memberships. Because the arrangements are made directly with the Club, and not a financial institution, the process allows for maximum flexibility, efficiency, and privacy. The Club looks forward to tailoring a financial program that fits your membership needs.

   Recruiting News

This week in recruiting
By Chris Horne

The biggest news this week (well, actually last Friday) was the verbal commitment of Penn Charter (Philadelphia, PA) point guard Sean Singletary to the Cavalier men's basketball program. Singletary is rated one of the top point guard prospects in the Class of 2004. He averaged 18.5 points, 6 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 4 steals as a junior. Coach Gillen and company hope Singletary can do what Majestic Mapp did for Virginia recruiting four years ago.

Be sure to check out our feature interview with Sean on the Sabre Edge.

In football, Virginia appears to be the front runner for Pottstown (Pottstown, PA) cornerback Chris Gorham. He visited the Cavaliers during spring practice, and is comfortable with the coaches and players. Gorham recently received an offer from Notre Dame, and the Fighting Irish are in his top two right now. He will camp this summer at both UVA and Virginia Tech. Gorham's primary asset is his speed, as he runs a 10.8 in the 100 meters. Off the field, he carries a 4.0 grade point average and hopes to major in pre-med.

The Cavaliers have offered another track star - Providence (Charlotte, NC) RB/WR prospect Andrew Pearman. Pearman blazed a trail during a combine in North Carolina this May, running a 4.28 in the 40. He has received offers from Tennessee, UNC, NC State, South Carolina, Clemson, Wake Forest, and Duke. Pearman will likely camp at Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Westfield (Chantilly, VA) stars QB Sean Glennon and WR Eddie Royal both plan to camp at UVA in June. UVA has not offered either prospect, however they are seriously recruiting both. Glennon, who has been offered officially by Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and Akron, will also camp at Notre Dame and Ohio State. Royal is the most explosive player in the state and has received an offer from Marshall. He will camp at VT as well. 6-6, 280 pound Osbourn Park (Manassas, VA) offensive lineman Zac Stair will camp at UVA and VT. He has been officially offered by Syracuse.

Gar-field (Woodbridge, VA) defensive end Clint Sintim is one of the hottest names in the state of Virginia. He has received official offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Syracuse, Maryland, West Virginia, and Marshall. At 6-4, 250 pounds, he runs a 4.8 in the 40 and bench presses 350 pounds. Gar-field head coach Jim Poythress says "anybody who has watched film on him has offered." He promises to be one of the most highly recruited players in the state this year.

For more information on all of these prospects, see the recruiting updates from the last week on the Sabre Edge.

ACC Expansion is the news

The expansion efforts of the ACC have been all over the news this week. It's been a drama of major proportions, with politicians getting involved for their own personal gain, UVa's position on whether or not to vote yes to expansion, and five Big East schools bringing legal action against the ACC for monetary damages.
