This week ... UVa Lacrosse loses heartbreaker on double OT The Virginia lacrosse team suffered a difficult double overtime loss to Syracuse 12-11 last Saturday in semifinals of the NCAA Lacrosse Championships. The Cavaliers held a one point lead on the Orangemen late in the contest, and it appeared that they could stall for the remainder of the game and advance to the Championship game. But, in a stroke of bad luck, Virginia was called for delay of game, with only 30 seconds on the clock, when they failed to keep the ball inside the dotted line. Syracuse quickly advanced the ball for the tying score to put the game into overtime. The Orangemen scored in double overtime to win the game under the sudden death rule. For more information on the game, please see the official report. Two UVa baseball players named All-ACC Virginia pitchers Jeff Kamrath and Dan Street were named All-Atlantic Coast Conference this week. Each gathered second team honors.
