The University of Virginia football program has received a commitment from Brad Butler, a 6-8, 265-pound offensive lineman from E.C. Glass H.S. in Lynchburg, VA.

Butler took an unofficial visit to Virginia to watch the UVa-Richmond contest on September 1st. He made his decision to commit to Virginia last Thursday.

"From the beginning, I fell in love with UVa. I just love their coaching staff, the field, the students, and the school itself," Butler said. "I was really looking for a school that had good academics as well as a good football team. That's what UVa has, and very few schools in the nation do. It really appealed to me. It was my top school."

Butler says he has great foot speed and his frame has the ability to carry a lot more weight. He's an athletic player who plays, or has played, several sports at the high school level, including basketball, baseball and indoor track.

"My only real weakness is that I need still need to get stronger," Butler said. "I plan on doing indoor track this year and getting into weight lifting. If UVa will let me, I plan on enrolling in summer school there and getting into their weight program early."

Butler has already made plans on the type of curriculum he's like to pursue at UVa.

"I'm looking at doing something with law, maybe political science," Butler said.

Butler is the eighth confirmed commitment for the University of Virginia football program thus far.
