Virginia received the fifth commitment within a one week span today, when 6-0, 170-pound Pottstown (PA) cornerback Chris Gorham committed to Virginia over Notre Dame. Gorham had offers from both schools.

"He told me this morning that he had verbally committed to Virginia," said Pottstown Assistant Coach Jim Mich. "He just felt comfortable with the program. He likes the ACC. He pretty much likes the whole package. He liked Coach Groh and Coach Price a lot. At Virginia he'll get a good education too."

With Gorham's commitment, Virginia has received five players within one week. The other commitments include linebacker Devonta Brown, tight end Tom Santi, place kicker/punter Chris Gould, and Deep Creek defensive back/wide receiver Jamaal Jackson.

Gorham becomes Virginia's 13th commitment for the 2004 class.
