CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Head football coach Al Groh announced several appointments to his coaching staff today.

Groh tabbed offensive line coach Ron Prince as offensive coordinator to replace Bill Musgrave, who took the position of offensive coordinator with the Jacksonville Jaguars last month. Prince remains the offensive line coach, where he oversaw the development of guard Elton Brown, an honorable mention All-ACC choice last season, and freshman All-America tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson among others. Prince has been on Groh's Virginia staff since 2001.

Mike Groh adds the quarterbacks to his responsibilities while remaining the wide receivers coach. He coached All-American wide receiver Billy McMullen the last two seasons as McMullen became UVa's all-time leading receiver. No stranger to the quarterback position, Groh is one of the greatest quarterbacks in UVa history and is the only signal caller to lead the team to nine wins and a bowl victory in back-to-back seasons.

Former NFL offensive lineman Andy Heck takes over as tight ends coach. He has been a graduate assistant on offense the last two seasons, working with the tight ends. Heath Miller earned Freshman All-America honors last season under his tutelage. Heck was a first round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 1989 and captained Notre Dame's national championship team in 1988.

Former Cavalier standout Anthony Poindexter and David Cadaret have been named offensive graduate assistants. One of the most honored players in school history, Poindexter served as a graduate assistant coach for strength and conditioning last season. A three-time first-team All-ACC selection during his playing days, Poindexter played several years in the NFL before returning to UVa. Cadaret served as graduate assistant for video last season, his first with the program. A 1993 graduate of UVa, he competed on the track and field team as a pole vaulter during his undergraduate career. He coached football at several high schools in the Central Virginia area following graduation.

Tim Whitney, graduate assistant for recruiting last season, has been named defensive graduate assistant coach. He was a four-year letterman at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and served one season as assistant defensive coach at Bishop McNamara High School in the Washington, D.C. area prior to coming to UVa.
