Fontel Mines becomes a Hoo Fontel Mines, a 6-5, 210-pound wide receiver from Hermitage High in Richmond, Virginia, committed to the Cavaliers yesterday. Mines is yet another star receiver to come out of the Richmond area. Other recent stars were Virginia's Billy McMullen, Virginia Tech's Ernest Wilford, Michigan's David Terrell and North Carolina's Corey Holliday. Mines has excellent speed for his size, running 4.5 in the forty. He provides a big target for UVa's quarterbacks. With an offensive scheme that requires as many passes as Virginia's, Mines is the sort of receiver that the Hoos need to take the next step. With the departure of All-American receiver Billy McMullen, Mines' commitment could not have come at a better time. Mines is currently listed as one of the hottest recruits in the state of Virginia by many publications. He's listed as a three-star recruit nationally by Rivals.com. For more on Fontel Mines, including quotes and recruiting card, please see the Sabre Edge article and updates listed below.
