Virginia Basketball gets new commitment

Gary Forbes, a 6'5" 190 pound guard/forward from Benjamin Banneker High School in Brooklyn, NY, has committed to Virginia according to various sources. He is scheduled to make an official announcement at a 2:30 pm press conference today.

Forbes is a versatile player who combines a good shooting touch with excellent slashing ability, and he is skilled enough to play either shooting guard or small forward position on the collegiate level. As a junior, he averaged 25 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and three blocks per game.

A relative unknown until an impressive performance at this summer's Nike Camp, Forbes is rated in one of the top 100 overall prospects by Rivals.com (#52), Insiders.com (#48), and ESPN.com (#28). He chose the Cavaliers over Georgia Tech, and joins JR Reynolds as the second member of the Cavaliers 2002-2003 recruiting class.
