Pennsylvania quarterback commits to Virginia

Kevin McCabe, a 6-3, 205-pound quarterback from Pine-Richland H.S. in Wexford, PA has committed to play football for the University of Virginia.

McCabe is considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the Northeast and is arguably the best passing quarterback in the state of Pennsylvania.

McCabe didn't start playing football until his freshman year in high school, but developed quickly. The past two seasons, McCabe threw for 2,168 yards. Last season, McCabe completed 79 of his 131 passes for 1,053 yards, even though he missed time in three games with injuries.

McCabe had offers from several schools, including Notre Dame, Michigan State, Michigan, LSU, Pitt, Penn State, Arizona State, UCLA, Georgia Tech. His final three were Virginia, Notre Dame and Michigan. McCabe camped at UVa last summer.

In other news

We are delaying the release of today's weekly SabreMail until tomorrow so that we may make one last attempt to get quotes from recent commitments James Terry and Gordie Sammis, as well as try to get some quotes from Kevin McCabe. We're shooting for a morning release.
