D'Brick Commits to Virginia

D'Brickashaw Ferguson, a 6-5, 250-pound lineman from Freeport High in Long Island, N.Y. has committed to the University of Virginia.

Ferguson is the best offensive lineman and arguably the best overall player in the state of New York. He is currently rated a 3-star recruit and 26th nationally at his position by Rivals100.com, but that ranking is sure to go up over the next couple of months.

Ferguson is a monster on the line, with his strength and massive 87-inch wingspan, one publication said that he 'moved opposing linemen like checkers' this past season. Ferguson is a three-year starter for Coach Russ Cellan. He earned earn the Thorp Award, which is given annually to Nassau County's most outstanding football player.

Ferguson is not just an offensive lineman. He racked up 55 tackles (32 solo), 6 sacks, 8 quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery while playing defensive end.

Ferguson is yet another piece of the offensive line puzzle that Virginia is putting together to replace four graduating seniors from last season's squad. The Cavaliers have already received commitments from Randy Hand, D.J. Bell, Damian Spradlin, Robert Jenkins and Brad Butler. Ferguson chose Virginia over Michigan State.
