Kiser Named ACC Linebacker of the Week

Virginia linebacker Micah Kiser was named ACC Defensive Linebacker of the Week for games played through Nov. 21.

Kiser had a career-high 17 tackles in the Cavaliers’ 42-34 win over visiting Duke. He had 10 solo stops, one sack and two total tackles for loss as the Blue Devils managed just 100 rushing yards and UVA posted five sacks in the win.

This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

Western Albemarle (Charlottesville, VA) defensive end Osiris Crutchfield verbally committed to UVA on Sunday, giving the Hoos 27 commitments in the class of 2016. Crutchfield, a 6’4”, 225-pound prospect, received a scholarship offer from the Cavaliers in late November.

Crutchfield was named the Conference 29 Defensive Player of the Year in 2015, when he racked up 15.5 tackles for loss and 9 sacks. He saw action at defensive end and defensive tackle at WAHS.

I have a free report up on Crutchfield and his commitment, but stay tuned this week for further comments from UVA's newest recruit.

As mentioned, the Cavaliers now have 27 commitments in the class of 2016. Five of those recruits - TE Christian Baumgardner, PK Holland Corbett, RB Tre Harbison, LB Kenneth Ruff, and OLB/DE Matt Terrell - have signed non-binding grant-in-aid papers with the intention of enrolling on Grounds in January of 2016.

This week, stay tuned for a look at how Virginia's recruits performed in playoff action this past week.

On the basketball recruiting front, stay tuned this week for a look at how UVA's class of 2016 recruits stack up with the rest of the ACC. Also, all four of Virginia's recruits will be starting their senior seasons soon, so stay tuned in the coming weeks and months for reports on how they are performing.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
