Kickoff Time for UVa's Game At Louisville

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the start time for Virginia's Nov. 14 football game at Louisville. The game will be televised by regional sports networks and will begin at 12:30 p.m.

That game will mark five straight kickoffs for Virginia on the RSN networks. UVa's game with Miami this Saturday kicks off at 3 p.m. with the same television assignment.

This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

Virginia football landed commitment No. 26 for the class of 2016 this past weekend, when Centreville (Clifton, VA) defensive end Christian Brooks pledged to the Hoos.

Brooks, a 6’5”, 230-pound senior, also held offers from Cincinnati, Miami, Nevada, NC State, and Pittsburgh among others. He was in attendance for the Cavaliers’ home win over Syracuse on Oct. 17, and two weeks later he was ready to make his commitment.

Though Virginia has 26 commitments and the NCAA allows only 25 student-athletes to enroll in a given class at one time, five of the 26 have signed grant-in-aid papers with plans to enroll in January of 2016. This allows UVa some flexibility with its scholarship numbers.

This week I plan to have much more on Virginia’s newest pledge, so stay tuned.

Also this week, I plan to have more information on Western Albemarle (Charlottesville, VA) senior defensive end Osiris Crutchfield. Crutchfield landed offers from Virginia and VMI last week, so we’ll check in for more on his recruitment and where he plans to go following the UVa offer.

On the basketball front, stay tuned this week for reports on transfer Austin Nichols and redshirt freshman center Jack Salt. Last week, I posted an EDGE feature on Cavalier first year Jarred Reuter. Here is a sampling of that article ...

At Virginia’s media day event on October 21, Reuter took some time to discuss a variety of topics, including ...

How he decided so quickly that UVa was the place for him and how his experience so far has met his expectations ...

“I made the decision because I came down here and I felt really comfortable with everything - the school, the coaches, the players that I did meet. I was really happy with what I saw at the school and the workouts and all that. I just thought it would be a perfect fit. So far it has been everything I expected. It has gone the way I hoped it would go. It has been really great so far,” Reuter said.

Coach Bennett and staff and if they have met his expectations ...

“I knew to expect a lot because, being a fan of college basketball, you know he’s a great head coach and they’re a great staff. Coach Curtis and everybody, they just have a really good thing going. I knew to expect that and I guess I’m kind of blown away with how good they are with everything. I guess they’ve been better than expected, but they are just really good guys and really good coaches.”
