Kickoff Time for UVa's Halloween Game

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the start time for Virginia's Oct. 31 Halloween football game against Georgia Tech. The game will be televised by regional sports networks and will begin at 3 p.m.

That game will mark three straight mid-afternoon kickoffs for Virginia on the RSN networks. UVa's game with North Carolina this Saturday kicks off at 3:30 p.m. with the same television assignment.

This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

For a listing of those recruits we confirmed were in attendance for the Syracuse game this past Saturday, check out my “Confirmed Visitors” report linked below.

Stephen Spanellis, who attends Gilman (Baltimore, MD), was one of Virginia’s class of 2016 commitments in Scott Stadium for the Cavaliers’ triple overtime win over the Orange. In-state seniors Nick Grant and Chris Moore were there as well.

Spanellis has helped the Greyhounds reel off seven straight wins this season. Gilman, annually one of the top prep football programs in Maryland, is now 7-1 heading into this Friday’s matchup with Friendship Collegiate. This week I plan to catch up with the standout offensive line prospect to discuss his senior season, UVa’s program, the Syracuse game, and more.

Stay tuned for reports on Grant and Moore in the coming weeks as well. Grant is an “athlete” recruit out of Courtland High School in Spotsylvania, while Moore is a defensive back out of Broad Run High School in Ashburn. Both schools are very much in the mix for state championships this season.

Another visitor this past weekend was North Allegheny (Wexford, PA) standout Griffin Sestili. Earlier this month, UVa offered a scholarship to the junior tight end. I hope to catch up with Sestili this week for thoughts on the Syracuse game, the Virginia offer, and more.

On Wednesday, UVa men’s basketball is holding its media day event. I’ll be on hand to interview true freshmen Mamadi Diakite, Jarred Reuter, and walk-on Justice Bartley. I’ll pass along initial notes from my interviews on the EDGE Board with full reports to follow.

Also this week, stay tuned for a look at Virginia baseball’s true freshmen.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
