This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

The outstanding play of UVa-bound combo guard Kyle Guy continued this past weekend, with the future Hoo pouring in 30 points in one outing in Session 1 of the Adidas Nations. Unfortunately, Guy, a rising senior out of Lawrence Central (Indianapolis, IN), suffered an apparent ankle injury over the weekend.

The extent of the injury is not known, but I'll pass along whatever information I can get this week.

I also plan to catch up with Kyle soon for a full recap of what was a memorable summer for him.

Also on the basketball recruiting front, Virginia may host class of 2016 small forward target DeAndre Hunter on an unofficial visit this week. The 6’7” rising senior told TheSabre.com last week that a trip may happen either Monday or Wednesday. I'll check in with him for the very latest. In case you missed it, EDGE subscribers can read my full report on Hunter posted this past week and linked below. Virginia is one of the more recent offers for the Wynnewood (PA) Friends’ Central standout.

Football recruiting-wise, Virginia lost one commit - OL Grayson Stover reopened his recruitment - but quickly gained another when New Jersey tight end Christian Baumgardner pledged to the Hoos in the latter part of last week. Baumgardner, a 6’5”, 245-pound rising senior, chose Virginia over U-Conn, ODU, and others.

Stay tuned this week for a “Strategy Session” detailing UVa’s top remaining targets and needs in this class.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
