This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

The second of three July Evaluation Periods took place this past week. For the latest UVa-related men’s basketball recruiting news and notes, be sure to check out our "Tracking The Evaluation Period" articles linked below. Three features - they are free! - were posted this past week. I'll have more this week as the third Evaluation Period takes place from July 22-July 26.

While the Virginia staff is evaluating talent for the class of 2016 and beyond, the play of Cavalier class of 2016 commits Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome was one of the top storylines this past week. Jerome, a 6'4" guard out of New York, played well at the Nike Global Challenge. Guy, a combo guard out of Indianapolis, exploded this past week at the Adidas Uprising All-American Camp in New York.

Read more on Guy and Jerome in the third "Tracking The Evaluation Period" feature.

In terms of EDGE recruiting updates, check out the latest on class of 2016 combo guard Jagan Mosely in an update posted last Friday (linked below as well). The 6'3", 200-pound rising senior has not been offered by Virginia as of this writing; however, he is being evaluated by head coach Tony Bennett.

Men's basketball recruiting is at the forefront of the recruiting coverage this week. No doubt, though, Cavalier fans are eagerly awaiting word from Memphis transfer Austin Nichols. The 6'9" Nichols, who attended Memphis for two years before deciding to transfer, is believed to be leaning toward Virginia as his transfer destination.

On the football recruiting front, UVa is hosting a Team Camp this week. A one-day camp is scheduled for Thursday, July 23, as well, and I'll have any breaking news and notes from these events.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
