Anderson Leaving For NBA Draft

Virginia junior Justin Anderson has decided to forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the NBA Draft. Anderson and the Cavaliers won their second straight outright ACC Regular Season Championship this season. The program won 30 games in consecutive years for the first time ever over the past two seasons.

“I have decided to leave the University of Virginia and enter the 2015 NBA Draft,” Anderson said in a news release. “It’s been a life-long dream of mine to play in the NBA and I’ve had an incredible experience here at UVa. It’s really difficult to say goodbye, but I feel I’m ready to make the next step in my basketball career at the professional level.”

This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

The first leg of the 2015 Nike EYBL (AAU) was in Hampton (VA) this past weekend. I was on hand for Saturday’s games and have posted two “Sabre Scoop” features, including one this morning. EDGE subscribers, for news and notes on UVa commit Ty Jerome and targets such as Mamadi Diakite, V.J. King and Michael Porter Jr., check out these two features.

This week, stay tuned for individual updates on Diakite and King, two of UVa’s top remaining targets in the class of 2016.

While basketball took the stage this past week, there will be two important events for Virginia football recruiting this week. There is Saturday’s Spring Game, which is usually well-attended by recruits. We’ll have a complete list of those recruits we confirmed in Scott Stadium as well as any breaking news. On Sunday, a Nike Football Training Camp takes place in Northern Virginia. I plan to be on hand for that event, so stay tuned for news and notes on UVa targets.

In case you missed it, Virginia football has scored another commitment in the class of 2016. Crest (Shelby, N.C.) tailback Tre Harbison pledged on Sunday, giving the Hoos six commitments from high school junior prospects.

Harbison rushed for 1,855 yards and 36 touchdowns for 3A state champ Crest last season. Check out my initial report (with highlights) up now, and later this week I plan to have more with the 5’11”, 205-pound tailback.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
