UVa Wraps Up Non-Conference Play

No. 3 Virginia (11-0) wraps up non-conference regular season action against Davidson (9-1) on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at the John Paul Jones Arena. Virginia basketball players will be available for post-game autographs from 8:15-8:45 p.m.

This year's team hopes to join some elite company in program history if they can get a win against the Wildcats. The Cavaliers are seeking their first 12-0 start since 1981-82. Plus, a victory to get to 12-0 would make this just the fourth undefeated non-conference regular season for UVa since joining the ACC in 1953-54 (1978, 1982 and 2001).

Virginia is ranked No. 3 in both national polls currently. The Hoos have been in the top 10 for the first nine weeks of the season for the first time since 1982-83.

This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

This week on the basketball recruiting front, I’ll take a look at what targets have emerged on UVa’s radar in the class of 2016. There are of course some known targets with offers such as Virginia Episcopal School (Lynchburg, VA) forward Sacha Killeya-Jones and Blue Ridge (St. George, VA) center/power forward Mamadi Diakite, but I’ll also catch you up on other prospects UVa is keeping an eye on in that class.

Virginia has two class of 2016 commitments in the fold already in 4-star combo guard Kyle Guy and combo guard Ty Jerome.

Speaking of Killeya-Jones, I still hope to reach him for a full report on his recruitment and how he is progressing in his junior season at VES. The 6’9” junior attended Woodberry Forest (VA) before arriving at VES, so I plan to ask how he is developing this season under VES coach Curtis Staples.

In football recruiting, here are just some of the reports I am working on for this week and in the near future:

  • A report on UVa offensive line recruiting under head coach Mike London.
  • A look back at what the expectations were of the 2014 class recruits and how they performed this past season.
  • My final Top 40 rankings for the in-state class of 2015.
  • Reports on all of Mike London’s classes and where the hits and misses have been so far.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
