This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

On hand for UVa men’s basketball’s dismantling of Harvard was one of the Cavaliers’ top targets in the class of 2016, Virginia Episcopal School (Lynchburg, VA) forward Sacha Killeya-Jones. This week I plan to catch up with the 6’9” junior for his thoughts on the visit as well as his play this season, recruiting, and more.

Killeya-Jones’ initial response to Virginia’s win was a positive one. He Tweeted:

Had a great time at UVa today! #Wahoowa

Notre Dame, VCU, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest are among the other schools that have offered Killeya-Jones, who is also receiving interest from North Carolina, among others. Killeya-Jones attended Woodberry Forest (VA) before transferring to VES before his junior year.

Virginia has landed two class of 2016 commitments so far in combo guards Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy. Jerome hails from New Rochelle, New York, while Guy is a 4-star recruit out of Indianapolis, IN.

Also this week, I will begin work on my final in-state Top 40 rankings for the class of 2015 in football. Look for those rankings to come out a little after New Year’s. UVa missed out on one of the top in-state prospects this past Friday when Atlee (Mechanicsville, VA) linebacker/defensive end Ricky DeBerry Jr. pledged to Oklahoma over the Hoos and six other schools.

Virginia remains in the running for some other promising in-state senior talents, however, including Colonial Forge (Stafford, VA) wide receiver/safety Gary Jennings and William Fleming (Roanoke, VA) wide receiver Warren Craft. I plan to check in with both of those recruits this week for the latest on their recruitments.

Virginia currently has 20 verbal commitments in the class of 2015.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
