Hoos Talking Archives

Hoos Talking, TheSabre.com's Richmond radio show media partner, continues to bring you exclusive interviews with Wahoos current and past. This is the fifth season of the show with Jim Hobgood, former hoops standout and analyst for Virginia men’s basketball on the Virginia Radio Network for 12 years, and Frank Maloney, a 1982 UVa graduate and former President of the Bill Dudley Scholarship Foundation, as hosts.

The most recent show aired earlier tonight (Monday, Oct. 13) on Sports Radio 910 AM in Richmond. The featured guests were Tyrone Davis, who set a UVa school record for touchdown receptions with 28, and Chris Horne, TheSabre.com's recruiting anlayst.

This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

Last week I caught up with combo guard Kyle Guy, a highly regarded prospect out of Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. The 6’2” junior reportedly was going to visit the University of Virginia this past weekend. That did not happen, but the 4-star talent said he does plan to be in Charlottesville this Friday.

Guy, who appears to be a top target of head coach Tony Bennett, will be making his first ever visit to UVa. He seems impressed with the way Bennett has recruited him thus far, so it’ll be interesting to see how he feels about the school and the program after this week’s trip.

EDGE subscribers can read more on Guy in last week’s article linked below. I’ll also follow up with the standout junior after the Virginia visit for a report.

Also on the basketball recruiting front, the “Virginia Men’s Basketball Scholarship Picture” was added to the site this past week. The table feature breaks down UVa men’s basketball’s scholarship picture in the coming years, displaying how many scholarships are available plus what players have been offered by the Cavaliers. It’s a cool feature that’ll keep you updated on where things stand with future recruiting classes. The link is below as well.

On the football recruiting front, I’ll have another “Week In Review” out this week, providing you the latest on how Virginia’s recruits are performing on the high school gridiron. Defensive tackle prospect James Trucilla was the highlighted prospect in last week’s edition.

I also plan to have a new “Sabre Scoop” out this week with both football and basketball recruiting news and notes, so stay tuned for that as well.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
