Internships Available

TheSabre.com is searching for student interns! The online authority for coverage of University of Virginia athletics is interested in adding student interns for the 2014-2015 school year. There are multiple positions available.

Internships are available in various areas. Interns will assist with online coverage of UVa athletics (either video or print), social media, and overall marketing of TheSabre.com. The internships are tailored toward the student's interests. Recent interns with TheSabre.com have worked game day for football, produced and hosted Sabre TV video segments, worked game day for men's basketball, covered the College World Series, and more. Previous interns have gone on to employment opportunities with newspapers, television stations, and mlb.com (Major League Baseball) for example.

If you are interested in an internship opportunity with TheSabre.com, please contact Editor Kris Wright at [email protected] to provide a resume and a sample of your previous work experience.

This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

Tony Bennett held his annual Elite Camp this past Saturday. The field was a talented one with one of the stars being Blue Ridge (VA) class of 2016 power forward/center Mamadi Diakite, who had an outstanding performance, showing off his athleticism, shot-blocking skills, ability to run the floor, and even some nice offensive moves.

Top class of 2017 point guard target Matt Coleman was on hand as well. Coleman scored an offer from the Cavaliers before he ever played a game on the high school level. He continues to climb in the recruiting ranks, pulling in more offers this spring and summer, including U-Conn earlier this month.

EDGE subscribers, stay tuned for a complete recap of Saturday’s camp including top performers, recruiting information, and more. Also this week, I’ll have individual updates on the aforementioned Diakite and Coleman, plus an update on class of 2016 point guard Ty Graves, who was also on hand for Saturday’s camp.

Later this week I’ll have a men’s basketball “Strategy Session” focused on class of 2016 recruiting, including which targets Coach Bennett and company have offered at this point.

It was a busy weekend for the Virginia football program too as the Hoos picked up two more rising senior commitments to bring its total number of class of 2015 recruits to 19. The latest pledged are South Carolina defensive end Rasool Clemson and Virginia offensive/defensive lineman Eli Hankin.

Clemons, a 6’6”, 210-pound prospect, is rated as a 4-star recruit by 247Sports and Rivals. He is the third 4-star recruit Virginia has landed in this class. Hanback, who hails from Patrick Henry High School in Ashland, Virginia, grew up a Cavalier fan and committed to coach Mike London immediately after receiving an offer this past Saturday night, while in attendance for a recruiting BBQ event.

This week, I’ll have more reaction from this past Saturday’s BBQ plus more on some of UVa’s most recent commits.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
