This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

In case you missed it, the Virginia football program scored a verbal commitment from Buford (GA) rising senior safety/wide receiver David Curry last week. Curry, son of former UNC and Atlanta Falcons linebacker Buddy Curry (a two-time NFL All-Pro), is being recruited by the Hoos as a safety. I hope to have much more on the 6’1”, 195-pound prospect later this week so stay tuned.

A brief “Dead Period” in college football recruiting has come to an end, so look for visits to pick up in the days and weeks ahead. As always, we’ll be on the Virginia football recruiting beat, letting you know what’s up with the Cavaliers’ top recruiting targets. If there is any breaking news, we’ll have that as well.

On the class of 2015 commitment front, in addition to Curry I plan to catch up with Virginia offensive line recruit RJ Proctor for the latest in terms of what he has been up to since he pledged to the Hoos last month. The Liberty (Bealeton, VA) prospect is one of three offensive line commitments for the Cavaliers.

Basketball recruiting also picked up this past weekend with coaches heading out to scout prospects on the AAU circuit. In this week’s “Sabre Scoop,” I’ll provide a rundown of those targets UVa is eyeing closely for the class of 2015 and beyond. The Cavaliers currently have only one open spot available in class of 2015 recruiting, where it looks like the focus is on adding a low post player.

I apologize for the delay, but the report on UVa baseball’s incoming freshman class will be out this week as well.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
