This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

Virginia football’s commitment run continued last week, when the Hoos received pledges from class of 2016 wide receiver Cole Blackman and class of 2015 offensive lineman RJ Proctor.

Blackman, a 6’2”, 190-pound prospect out of Glen Allen High School in Virginia, committed last Tuesday, the same day he learned he had a scholarship offer from the Cavaliers. Proctor, a 6’4”, 320-pound prospect, was offered by UVa in late May. Following an unofficial visit to UVa on Saturday, June 7, Proctor considered either making a commitment or waiting. Obviously, he decided he was ready to commit.

This week I’ll have more from both players on their decisions. Also this week ...

Stay tuned for more reports on the football recruiting beat, including updates on Pennsylvania rising senior safety prospect John Petrishen, who visited UVa for the first time this past Friday, and Ohio rising senior linebacker CJ Stalker, who has Virginia as one of his top schools and is eyeing a summer decision.

EDGE Subscribers can read my Sunday “Sabre Scoop” (linked below), which includes a report on this past Saturday’s 7-on-7 Tournament at UVa. Cavalier class of 2015 commitments Nick Johns and David Eldridge III participated in the event. I have reports on those players and much more.

This week, I hope to have an update on top class of 2015 cornerback Ashton White's unofficial visit to UVa. White, who attends Bishop McNamara (MD), lists Virginia as one of his top schools. I also plan to have an update on Liberty Christian (Lynchburg, VA) class of 2016 safety Tim Glass, who was offered by the Cavaliers while at Saturday’s 7-on-7.

UVa has another one-day camp this Saturday, June 21, and TheSabre plans to be on hand for coverage.

On the basketball front, the 2014 NBPA Top 100 Camp comes to Charlottesville this week. TheSabre.com will be on hand for coverage of those targets Tony Bennett and company are pursuing.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
