Join Richmond Sports Radio 910's Wes McElroy to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. McElroy started D.A.D.'s Day (Dollars Against Diabetes Day) in 2008 in honor of his father Frank, who was diagnosed with diabetes in 1998.
For the seventh year, McElroy is teaming up with the Richmond Flying Squirrels and others as part of the event. On Wednesday, McElroy will broadcast live from the Club at Viniterra from 3-6 p.m. On Friday, McElory will appear at the Call Federal Credit Union from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Friday, McElory will broadcast live from the Richmond Flying Squirrells home at The Diamond from 3-6 p.m. Donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will help JDRF fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of diabetes until no one has to fear developing the disease. You can get a "Yo McElroy T-Shirt" with a $5 donation. Read more about D.A.D.'s Day here. |

This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne Polk, a 6'6", 290-pound prospect out of Charlotte HS in Punta Gorda, Florida, chose the Hoos over offers from Cincinnati, East Carolina, Mississippi State and South Florida, among others. He is planning to graduate from high school in December of 2014 in order to enroll at UVa in January of 2015. Reed, a 6'2", 205-pound prospect out of Randolph-Henry High School in Charlotte Court House, Virginia, was offered by head coach Mike London the day of UVa's Spring Game earlier this year. A lifelong Cavalier fan, Reed decided the time was right to commit. "I've wanted to come here for a while now. I know this is the place where I want to be," Reed said in an interview following Virginia's one-day camp this past Sunday. EDGE subscribers will be able to read my full report on Reed's pledge to Virginia. A free update on Polk's commitment was posted on Sunday night. This week, stay tuned for the following reports... Stafford (VA) class of 2016 offensive lineman Josh Ball was offered by Virginia this past Sunday morning, just prior to the camp. I caught up with the 6'6", 310-pound rising junior following the camp, and certainly he was excited by the offer. I'll have full report this week. Class of 2015 targets RJ Proctor (OL out of Virginia) and CJ Stalker (LB out of Ohio) each visited UVa this past weekend. I plan to catch up with both for full reports on their experiences in Charlottesville and where they stand in their decision making processes. Stalker has held a Virginia offer for quite some time, while Proctor just landed an offer from the Hoos in late May. This Saturday, June 14, UVa will host its annual 7-on-7 Tournament and Big Man Camp. TheSabre plans to be on hand for this event, so stay tuned for any breaking news plus other observations and notes. Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
