Recruiting News | |||||
This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne Wilbekin took an official visit to Wake Forest last Thursday and Friday. He originally signed with Tulsa last November, but was recently granted a release from the letter of intent after head coach Danny Manning left for Wake. Virginia offered a scholarship last week after missing out on Devonte’ Graham. On the football recruiting front, the Spring Evaluation Period is in full swing. We’ll keep you posted on any new news in terms of scholarship offers, etc., and I’ll have a number of recruiting updates this week, including reports on Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) linebacker Jahvoni Simmons, Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) cornerback Levonta Taylor, Liberty (Bealeton, VA) offensive lineman R.J. Proctor, Cox (Virginia Beach, VA) offensive tackle Blake Camper, Colonial Forge (Stafford, VA) wide receiver/athlete Gary Jennings, and more. Simmons is a rising senior who has earned scholarship offers from Alabama, Clemson, Virginia, and more. Jennings, a 6’2” rising senior, scored an offer from the Hoos last fall, while Camper is another class of 2015 prospect with a UVa offer in the fold. Proctor is a rising senior as well. While he has not yet been offered by the Hoos, Proctor is getting a serious look from Mike London and company. Taylor has already secured his spot as one of the top rising junior cornerbacks in the country, this despite the fact that his junior season was his first playing corner. Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
