This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

Virginia football hosted a majority of its class of 2014 commitments plus a few targets on Grounds this past weekend. Based on initial updates, big football recruiting weekend seems to have been a success.

So far I’ve caught up with commits Jordan Jackson, who called the experience “awesome,” and Quin Blanding. Both prospects are rock solid in their decisions and will sign with the Hoos on Feb. 5, which is National Signing Day for the class of 2014. Blanding, Virginia’s 5-star safety recruit who is expected to see action next season, says the team is ready for the 2014 season.

“We’re very excited on both sides of the ball,” Blanding said. “We feel like we’ve found the missing pieces and we’re going to go out and put ‘em together. The defense will be solid. The offense will be solid. We’re excited.”

EDGE subscribers can check out much more from Blanding and Jackson on the EDGE board plus in a “Sabre Scoop” report that is forthcoming this week. EDGE subscribers can read analysis on Virginia’s class of 2014 in my “Countdown To Signing Day” features. The first installment – a look at quarterback recruiting - was released this week.

I also will release my state of Virginia Postseason Top 40, a ranking of the top 40 high school seniors in the Commonwealth, later on in the week.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
