Bennett Gives Update On Joe Harris

Virginia senior guard Joe Harris left the Florida State game on Saturday after being hit in the head and displaying concussion symptoms. Harris did not return per established protocol, according to UVa coach Tony Bennett.

On Monday during the ACC coaches' teleconference, Bennett said that Harris would go through a follow-up test before Monday afternoon's 3 p.m. practice to determine his avaibility for practice and the games later this week. Bennett said that Harris said he "feels good" after Saturday.

This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

Virginia football received some good news this past Saturday, when 4-star wide receiver Jamil Kamara committed to the Cavaliers over Pittsburgh and Wisconsin. Kamara, a 6'2", 205-pound senior out of Bishop Sullivan (Virginia Beach, VA), made his announcement during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Kamara's commitment gives Virginia five recruits with at least one 4-star or better rating by the four national recruiting outlets (ESPN, Rivals, Scout, 247Sports). The standout receiver is a consensus 4-star recruit. Offensive lineman Steven Moss is a consensus 4-star as well, while offensive tackle Will Richardson is rated a 4-star by ESPN.com. Safety Quin Blanding and defensive lineman Andrew Brown are Virginia's two 5-star recruits in the class. In total, Cavaliers have received commitments from 16 players in the class of 2014.

Stay tuned this week for a report on the Cavaliers' newest commitment. Also this week ...

I'll begin my "Countdown To Signing Day" feature, which is a look at those players expected to sign with the Hoos on Feb. 5 (Signing Day) and how they may factor in next season and beyond. I'll have the latest on Virginia football's remaining class of 2014 targets too.

On the basketball front, I will check in with class of 2014 commitment Isaiah Wilkins for an update on his senior season. EDGE subscribers can check out a report on another commit, BJ Stith, that was posted last week.

Finally, I plan to finish up my final in-state top 40 football rankings for the class of 2014 this week. The list will be released by the end of next week.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
