Virginia-VCU Men's Basketball Game Sold Out

The No. 24 Virginia men's basketball game against No. 14 VCU on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena is sold out, the Virginia athletics department announced.

Virginia opens the season against James Madison on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at JPJ.

  • Top-Ranked Cavaliers Roll to 6-1 Win over Maryland in ACC Quarterfinal: The top-ranked Virginia women's soccer team posted its first 20-win season in school history as it downed Maryland 6-1 in an ACC Tournament quarterfinal Sunday in front of 2,349 fans at Klockner Stadium. The Cavaliers (20-0) advance to meet Virginia Tech in Friday's ACC semifinals Junior midfielder Morgan Brian led the Cavaliers with two goals and an assist on the afternoon.
  • Early Goal Dooms No. 11 Virginia in 1-0 Loss to No. 23 North Carolina: The 11th-ranked Virginia men's soccer team had its 11-match unbeaten streak snapped Friday evening with a 1-0 loss to No. 23 North Carolina in front of 2,990 spectators at Klockner Stadium. The defeat was UVa's first since Sept. 13 at Wake Forest as the Cavaliers were shut out for just the third time in 2013.
  • UVa Women Finish Second, Men Finish Fourth at ACC Championships: The Virginia women's cross country team had its highest finish in three years at the ACC Championships, placing second during Friday's 6K race. The Virginia men's cross country team placed fourth at the meet. Four Cavaliers earned All-ACC honors with top 21 finishes in the women's race, the most All-ACC selections in school history. Senior Barbara Strehler was the first Virginia runner across the line, placing fourth in a time of 20:20.8. Freshman Maria Hauger was 10th, junior Kathleen Stevens was 12th and freshman Sarah Fakler was 14th to also earn All-ACC honors. Virginia had two men's All-ACC performers. Sophomore Kyle King was the team's top finisher, placing seventh in a time of 24:15.3. Senior Thomas Porter earned All-ACC honors for the second straight year with a 13th place finish.
  • Virginia Rallies to Defeat Clemson, 3-2, for Fourth Consecutive ACC Victory: The Virginia volleyball team rallied for the second consecutive evening to defeat Clemson, 3-2 (18-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21 and 15-12), for its fourth straight ACC win Saturday night. The Cavaliers (14-10, 7-5 ACC) have won four consecutive ACC matches for the first time since 2006, when UVa picked up eight straight matches and finished 16-6 in conference play. Haley Kole led the team with 19 kills against the Tigers. The Hoos rallied from down a set to defeat Georgia Tech, 25-17, 22-25, 22-25, 25-13 and 15-12, Friday evening. Senior Emily Rottman moved into sole possession of third place on UVa's all-time digs list with 1,617 during that win.
  • No. 14 Virginia Dominates in Trio of Season-Opening Wins: The No. 14 Virginia wrestling team opened the 2013-14 season Saturday with a trio of dual wins in a quad meet at Memorial Gymnasium. The Cavaliers scored wins over Anderson (46-3), Gardner-Webb (43-0) and West Virginia (41-6), winning 28 of the 30 individual matches in the process.
