This Week In Recruiting With Chris Horne

The University of Virginia football program hosted a pair of seniors, including Gilman (Baltimore, MD) outside linebacker prospect Melvin Keihn and Central Gwinnett (Lawrenceville, GA) cornerback Darious Latimore, on official visits this past weekend.

Latimore has verbally committed to the University of Virginia, Central Gwinnett head coach Todd Wofford has confirmed to TheSabre.com. Coach Wofford describes UVa's newest pledge as a "physical" cornerback, noting also that Latimore has seen action at the outside linebacker and safety spots in his time at Central Gwinnett. Rivals, 247Sports, Scout, and ESPN all rank the Peach State product as a 3-star recruit.

Keihn, who is also considering Virginia Tech (the leader heading into this past weekend), Maryland, Rutgers, Miami, Wake Forest, and Penn State, tweeted the following on Sunday:

"Thanks to the #UVA and it's family for having me this weekend for my official. Had a good, fun weekend! #Hoos"

I hope to reach both prospects for comment this week. I should have something soon on Latimore, a 6'0", 175-pound prospect.

This week, I'll have full articles on Virginia commitment Evan Butts and class of 2015 Cavalier target Austin Clark as well.

Butts, who is having an excellent senior season, is excited about his future at UVa, which he has said before is his "dream school." I plan to have an update on another Virginia commit, 5-star safety Quin Blanding, early this week as well.

Clark, who now boasts 11 scholarship offers, provides the latest on which schools he has visited so far this fall. Clark is an offensive tackle prospect out of Rockbridge County in Lexington, Virginia. Stay tuned also for the latest on those recruits confirmed in attendance at Scott Stadium for the Georgia Tech game.

Chris Horne, our resident recruiting expert, provides updates throughout the week for EDGE subscribers about UVa's commitments and recruiting targets in football and men's basketball.
