Mike London named UVa Football Defensive Coordinator

The University of Virginia is reporting that Coach Al Groh has hired Mike London as UVa Football's Defensive Coordinator. London worked for the NFL's Houston Texans for the 2005 season as their defensive line coach.

Prior to his time with the Texans, Coach London was one of Coach Groh's top assistant coaches from 2001-2004. London not only coached UVa's defensive linemen, but he acted as recruiting coordinator and was instrumental in bring in some of UVa's best recruiting classes, including the highly regarded 2002 class.

"Mike was instrumental in setting the foundation of our program from the first day, and we are very excited to have him rejoin Cavalier football as our defensive coordinator," said Groh. "He brings a set of standards and value system that will provide the right leadership for our defense. Mike's knowledge and background of the state of Virginia and the high school programs is a big plus. And his year in the NFL with the Texans will provide some new ideas for us. Mike's return is a win-win at all spots."
