According to the Daily Progress, Overlea (Baltimore, MD) RB/DB prospect Raynard Horne has committed to the University of Virginia. Horne becomes the 13th player to commit to the 'Hoos in the 2006 recruiting class. Of the 13 commits, 10 are from outside the state of Virginia.

Virginia offered the 6-1, 200-pound Horne after watching him perform at its summer camp earlier this summer. Virginia is the only school to have offered at this point, however coach Robinson expected more teams to offer during the season. Marshall, Maryland, Virginia Tech and West Virginia were among the other programs showing serious interest.

Over the spring and summer, Horne has caught the attention of many recruiters with his athleticism. During the Nike camp at Penn State, Horne ran a 4.46 in the 40-yard dash and posted a 36-inch vertical leap. Very strong, he benched 185 pounds 22 times. As a junior last season, he rushed for 500 yards and 12 touchdowns.
