Mark Verica Commits Today, Monsignor Bonner (Lansdowne, PA) quarterback Mark Verica was offered a scholarship to the University of Virginia and, although he had a written offer from Wisconsin and a verbal offer from Michigan State, it didn't take him long to accept it. Verica is now the 11th member of UVa's 2006 recruiting class. As a junior last season, the 6-3, 195-pound Verica, who played in a run-oriented offense, threw for 1,700 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had three rushing TDs. He estimates about a 58% completion rate in what was his first season as a varsity starting quarterback. Next season, he's looking forward to utilizing his skills in a more open offensive attack. Academically, he is a good student who carries an A-minus average.
