Nate Collins, a 6-2, 272-pound defensive end/outside linebacker prospect out of King and Low Heywood Thomas School (Stamford, CT), has verbally committed to the 'Hoos. He becomes the ninth player to commit to UVa for the 2006 class.

In high school, Collins has consistently played fullback and tight end on offense and along the line on defense. As a junior last season, he rushed for 850 yards with 10 touchdowns. Defensively, he made seven sacks. Collins was the team captain last season and will be again this year.

Collins impressed the coaches during last month's summer camp. He earned an offer shortly thereafter and decided to commit this week. He projects as either an outside linebacker or a defensive end.
