Chris Dalton Commits

The University of Virginia landed yet another out-of-state recruit yesterday, but this time they went south. Chris Dalton, a 6-1, 165-pound wide receiver prospect out of West Iredell High School in Statesville, North Carolina, has become the 7th verbal commitment for the 2006 recruiting class.

Dalton chose the 'Hoos over Clemson and several Division 1-AA offers. UNC and East Carolina were showing heavy interest as well.

"He committed on Tuesday of this week," West Iredell High School head coach Mark Weycker said. "Really, before much of this process really cranked up this spring, Virginia was an institution he was real interested in. It was just something he liked about Virginia."

As a junior last season, Dalton caught 37 passes for 525 yards and five touchdowns. He returned 14 kick-offs for 336 yards and two scores and intercepted four passes on defense.
