Mark Herzlich Commits

Virginia added commitment #6 yesterday, when Conestoga (Wayne, PA) inside linebacker recruit Mark Herzlich chose the 'Hoos over Boston College. The 6-4, 240-pound standout also held offers from Duke, Louisville and Vanderbilt.

As a junior last season, Herzlich, who has been named his team's defensive MVP each of the past two seasons, made 145 total tackles including three sacks and added three interceptions. He plays inside linebacker in Conestoga's 5-2 defense, which is similar to a 3-4.

Torchia chose the Cavs over offers from Boston College, Duke, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska and Rutgers. His decision came down to Boston College, Maryland and Virginia before he finally committed to the 'Hoos. An excellent student, Torchia is a member of the National Honor Society and hopes to major in Sports Medicine.
