Cavs Land Three Commitments

UVa enjoyed a very successful "blue-chip day" Saturday, receiving three verbal commitments for the 2006 class. Orange County (VA) nose tackle Asa Chapman, Trenton Central (Trenton, N.J.) linebacker Almondo Sewell and St. Anthony's (Long Island, N.Y.) outside linebacker John-Kevin Dolce are the newest members of the 2006 recruiting class.

Asa Chapman is a 6-5, 340-pound prospect who plays nose tackle and is an offensive lineman for Orange County High School. He earned second-team all-region honors at defensive tackle last season as a junior.

6-2, 220-pound John-Kevin Dolce projects as an outside linebacker in UVa's 3-4 scheme. Dolce, who received an offer from the Cavs three weeks ago, made 57 tackles, including 10 for a loss and four sacks last season as a junior. He plays defensive end in high school.

A native of Jamaica, 6-2, 235-pound Almondo Sewell is an inside linebacker recruit for the Cavs. Very fast, he has been timed at 4.5 in the 40-yard dash. He is a star in indoor track and baseball as well. As a junior, he racked up 92 tackles at inside linebacker in Trenton Central's 3-4 defense. He likely projects as an inside linebacker.

Virginia now boasts four commitments for the 2006 recruiting class. 6-4, 235-pound George Johnson, a linebacker/tight end out of Glassboro (N.J.), was the first commitment.
