It's not exactly an extreme makeover, just a little cosmetic surgery, but we hope you think the TheSabre.com looks sexier right now. Mike Ingalls has spent a great deal of time redesigning the site, aiming to make it more attractive and user friendly. For fans, the biggest difference is the standard navigation menu, which will gradually be added to the left side of each of the Sabre's web pages. With an expanded menu of links, it will allow you to go from one page to the next without revisiting the home page each time. The site also will change slightly to accommodate a new sponsorship banner and skyscraper sizes, though it will remain the same width (770 pixels). There have already been a few glitches as a result of the switch. Sorry about that, but we appreciate your patience. The changes may take some getting used to, like a fresh nosejob or a shot of Botox. Ultimately, though, TheSabre.com will look better than ever.

This Week In Recruiting By Chris Horne Football recruiting... 2004 UVa signee Olu Hall, an outside linebacker prospect out of Robinson High School in Fairfax, Va., fell just short of qualification standards and will enroll at Hargrave Military Academy. It is not known whether Hall, who was ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the state last year, will have to attend for one year or will be able to enroll at UVa in January of 2005. He remains firmly committed to UVa. Other prospects who have not yet enrolled at UVa include OL Branden Albert and Athlete Ahmad Bradshaw (right). Albert probably will not qualify academically, while Bradshaw is expected to arrive in Charlottesville on July 30th, according to sources. Following the rush of early commitments, there may be a lull until the contact period begins in September. Several prospects who are considering UVa may make a decision before the start of their respective seasons. They include Centreville OT Pat Sheil, Hermitage QB Jameel Sewell, and Paterson Catholic (NJ) safety Kitt Pommells.

Sabre Edge articles and columns from the past week
In Part 2 of an exclusive interview with TheSabre.com, UVa athletic director Craig Littlepage talks about his Mission Statement for UVa athletics, the rejected tiering proposal, the school's January admissions policy, the raw deal from bowls and the future of Virginia athletics. In Part 1, released last week, he discusses the 2003-04 year in athletics, Brian O'Connor, Pete Gillen, the basketball arena, future facilities projects and ACC expansion. A transcript of the entire interview also is available at this link.
Remember 2001? It was the Chinese Year of the Golden Snake. Dot.com's made money. Rudy Giuliani was Time Magazine's Person of the Year. Jennifer Lopez had only been married twice. And little was expected of the Virginia football team in Al Groh's first season as head coach. Fast forward to 2004. Monica, Rachel, Joey, Chandler and Phoebe (I never liked that other guy) are gone and Donald Trump has made "you're fired" a fun phrase. There are now 207 reality TV shows and that's just on FOX. And, in a dramatic change from three years ago, the Cavaliers should be a national contender in the Year of the Monkey.
