UVa received a commitment from another top player in the state of New Jersey. Salem High School inside linebacker Lamont Robinson chose UVa over offers from Miami, Michigan and Ohio State, among others. He has received a total of 26 official scholarship offers.

Robinson, a 6-2, 225-pound prospect, has been a varsity football performer since his freshman year. He has been voted captain since his sophomore year. As a junior last season, Robinson made 91 tackles along with five fumble recoveries and three interceptions. Recently, he was named the No. 89 overall player in the country by Rivals.com. Rivals also assigned him a four-star rating. He was recruited to play inside linebacker for UVa.

Robinson carries a 4.29 grade point average and has scored a 1,070 on the SAT. He becomes the 17th verbal commitment for the 2005 recruiting class.
