Nate Lyles, a 6-1, 195 pound defensive back prospect from Hubbard High School in Chicago, Illinois, has verbally committed to UVa. Lyles, who chose the 'Hoos over Notre Dame, becomes the 16th commitment for the 2004 class. He is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and a four-star player by Insiders.com.

As a senior, Lyles averaged nine tackles per game and had eight interceptions. In addition, he is an excellent student who hopes to major in Psychology. He carries a 3.75 grade point average and scored a 26 on the ACT.

His commitment was reported in this morning's online edition of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Former Robeson High School Head Coach Roy Curry said this about Lyles in a Chicago Sun-Times piece.

"Nate Lyles is one of the best safeties that has played in Chicago, and there is not anybody who is not aware of where he is on the field," said city football coordinator Roy Curry, a former Robeson coach and NFL player.
